SMA membership is open to any person or organization interested in supporting the objectives of the Society. The Society membership year runs from January to December.

As a member, you will have access to The Primary Source, an electronic publication of the Society that contains timely articles on archives, records management and conservation, listings of accessions at archival repositories, and national and regional archival news. The membership directory is published annually in The Primary Source.

Annual meetings provide a forum for the exchange of archival ideas. Many distinguished men and women in the archival field have shared their expertise with attending members. Workshops are often planned in conjunction with annual meetings.
